I’m Ibrahim, co-creator of Rubrical - an AI-powered assessment platform developed by OpenKit, the software company I co-founded. As product lead on our Department for Education backed project, I’m guiding the development of innovative assessment tools that address real challenges in education. Our current focus is creating a system that helps teachers reduce marking time for formative assessments while maintaining high-quality, personalised feedback.
With a background in front-end design and user interaction, I work at the intersection of technical implementation and user experience, ensuring our AI tools integrate effectively into existing teaching workflows.
My approach to education technology is practical and teacher-focused. The AI tools we’re building aim to handle routine aspects of assessment marking, freeing teachers to concentrate on more valuable interactions with students. Our solutions emphasise the teacher’s professional judgment while automating repetitive tasks.
The AI assessment platform we’ve developed for Geography teachers reduces marking time by approximately 50%, with additional benefits in consistency and curriculum alignment. Each feature is designed with input from experienced teachers to ensure it addresses genuine classroom needs.
When not developing educational technology, I enjoy hiking, sketching, and working on sustainability projects. I’m also interested in film and finding ways technology can support environmental initiatives.
